I think that ill do the same some of those birds were actually kind of nice though. i think that show birds are a waste of feed and money.

Just my opinion

Very interesting. I have to attmit when I was a kid I had a little bit of every thing. I had muff tumblers and my best roller was so slow I could count the rolls, she did 5, then I saw some spinners and found where Bill Pensom lived and I got rid of every thing and got started on the right track, so I dont know what the point is to raise animals that dont perform or that you cant eat. I can understand racing pigeons, tumblers, tipplers, ect I can even see breeding the pretty one's that can fly, but when they cant fly, have crooked necks, and are too small to eat what is the point, who sets the breed standard? I may ruffle some feathers here but it's like raising show rollers that dont roll but they fit somebodys standard of what a performing roller should look like. I was up in Bosie Id. at a PRA fly and they had a table show with a class for certified spinners, and there was also class for show rollers. They laughed at our birds because they said our bird didnt look strong enough to spin fast and we laughed at theirs cause they were too fat to even fly. Made for a lively afternoon. I guess if you pay the feed bill you can breed what ever you want as long as it makes you happy.

Ok Ty, be careful cause as you rollers get better and you get more into them they will take up more of you time, then they will get even better, it becomes a never ending circle but ya gotta love it to get there.

bloody odd that, i have to say i can't really comprehend why someone would breed something with the intent of basically disabling it in one way or another, some of those birds are leading a very uncomftable life.

Going thru the video I was amaised at how many I have had. Starting at about 10 yrs old. I had Fantails, Nuns, West England Tumblers, Pigmy Pouters, Helmets, Giant Runts, Frillbacks (the frillback feathers make great fly lures if you are into fly fishing) and of course the rollers.

I actually can say there were things about each breed that I enjoyed, But none so much as the Birmingham Rollers. Which are the only pigeons allowed on my property now...
