To all those who have said they have seen the doughnut hole I must apologize. I always believe it to be a figment of the imagination. I have seen it. I have a bird with perfect control that can spin at any depth. He rolled the other day at fifty feet from the hard deck and I saw a perfect hole. I thought it was an illusion and he did it again for good measure. He rolls for thirty feet or so and gets faster as he goes until he blurs out towards the end. It was an humbling moment.

Sippi, Thanks for telling us about that. Is there any other style of roll more beautiful than that..?? I don't think so. It is the best. Combined with high velocity... you got it going on.. Gomez

Me too! Not my first time and I am sure not my last.
To early to stock the bird. He is an early 08 and has to prove himself yet.

To the new guys follow the advise to those words Paul just wrote "To early to stock the bird. He is an early 08 and has to prove himself yet. sippi - I have 4 of them doing the donut but they won't be bred till one season and a half or 2..there is a whole lot of things they yet have to prove before being stock.---------
Now Scott you are humble..

Ahh yes.... that doughnut hole is sweet!
Sippi... if you ever observe a true champion you will notice that the bird is spinning so fast that it will appear as though it's spinning in motion (spinning in place) like a spinning top. Often there will not be very much descension from the spot it starts rolling to the point it breaks out of the roll. The speed is so freakin fast that it often becomes a blur to the stunned onlooker. ===> This aerial phenomenom known only to rolling pigeons is very, very, very rare to find!
A very good bird can turn over as many high velocity revolutions in 20ft as can a sound bird that rolls 40ft-60ft smoothly. Remember.... we are seeking birds with tremendous rolling speed and can spin over the most amount of times (revolutions) in the shortest amount of time. NOTE: It's sort of like ramping up the RPM's on a CHEVY CORVETTE.

Ralph, not being humble at all, I have never seen a "true" hole from my birds. Now I have had more than a few say they have seen it here, but the fact is what they saw wasn't it, the bottom line is they had never seen it so didn't know what it was. I might add that out of all the lofts that I have been to across the country and all of the kits that I have judged or just watched only a single bird showed a "true" hole . ---------- Just my Opinion Scott

Tony, you don't see clear blue sky through a perfect hole with optical illusions, it is very real, but also very rare, and I would say always been very rare.

As I said in the beginning I always thought it to be an optical illusion or imagination. I have seen hundreds and hundreds of birds roll and that was my first, one, and only.

Flying W the bird don't have to roll deep to show it .I have one that shows it when he is low coming to land he just spins so fast like he is in the same spot and snaps right out before he hits anything .I just happen to be in the right place to see it when the bird is sideway you see this not when he is rolling straight in front of you..it actually is a donut dropping from the sky.I love it when i see this .. I'm always with a pair if binoculars in my hands.no matter if they flying low I am right on them scoping every inch of the way.. --------- Ralph

that is cool to see that. To bring your birds to that level is an accomplishment. I hope to achieve it someday. Good job and good luck with that bird I hope it makes your stock loft. ---------- RT Williams
