For anyone interested I've found out more or less what it will cost to import birds from the US. First the breeders vet must check the birds and vaccinate against paromyxovirus--$55.The USDA certified vet must then stamp the papers from breeders vet--$30 first bird and $4.25 each additional bird.(make sure all band #s are correct)(split bands are ok as long as they can be identified.)Then ship to a P.O. in the closest border town to your location in Canada--$40-$50 depending on how many birds.Pick up your birds from the post office and have an appointment set up with the Canadian Border vet--$40.The Canadian border vets are on duty monday-friday office hours at various crossing points you'll have to find out which one.NO-I repeat NO quarantine is neccessary.Sooooo, add it all up and ya have about $200 plus the cost of the birds.Oh yeah, the shipping box will cost you something as well.---------- Kel. Drew, The $55 is for the visit not sure what the vac costs yet.I'm sure it can't be much more.On your other Q?,check your email later tonight(gotta eat). It's not alot to import a rare or non-existent breed.I love to see the different breeds fly.BRs,Homers,Doneks and now getting some Flying Orientals and it really helps to screw up the falcons and hawks to have the different breeds flying and avoiding the attacks. My BRs are getting alot more chances now. ---------- Kel. Rudy,I talked to a guy that brought birds in from Europe last year.It cost about $160 per bird to get them here, not including the price of the bird and they had to sit in a long quarentine.

Oye Rudy, Yeah,no that's just from the us to canada.Every country is different at what they allow and the shipping prices.I don't think there is a cheaper way to ship than with USPS as to ship birds the same distance in canada using Air Canada is about triple the cost. ---------- Kel. Rum-30 Lofts
