Some will say yes some will say no. They all came from the same place. The English black country. Wolverhampton is just a couple of miles from Birmingham. The Whittinghams lived in Wolverhampton. There is a dozen towns in and around the area called the Black Country. Fireball was a bird and Birmingham is a town. There is the history make your own decision.

Fireballs are typically deeper and not competition quality. They could and have been used in competition but if I were showing the bird I would show him in the birmingham class unless there was a Fireball class. A lot of Fireballs are also of a longer cast. It really depends on the family.

They have been breed to show a different type of performance. I would not address my Birminghams to be Fireballs and vise versa. I do know a competition flyer that had 2 or 3 Fireballs in a kit of Birminghams and I was pressed to see a difference in thier performance. He did not have a very good kit, but never the less it was hard picking out his Fireballs.
People who like Fireballs perfer the performance that Paul eluded to and the same can be said about those who prefer the performce of the Birminghams.
To go on with this; I know Birmingham people who are diverse in what they breed for. And, I would not want my Fireballs performing like Birminghams nor my Birminghams performing like Fireballs....appreciate the difference and enjoy. ---------- Just My Take On Things

Kopetsa, I have Fireballs and I believe that BR's, Fireballs and Whittinghams are all one in the same. We all know how the Fireball family originated. Those interested in the Fireball family bred them for extreme depth, long flight(who wants to only see 3 or 4 deep rolls in 20 mins.) and high flying(to compensate for the deep performance). The BR and Fireball have been bred to be specialists in their particular type of performance. I originally planned to compete with my Fireballs but have decided to add a Reed family of BR's for competition. Why try to re-invent the wheel? The two families will be kept seperate and each bred for the purpose it was intended.
