The landing boards are unique to the UK and Europe. Those are some nice set ups. The only thing I would have done diferently is slope the roof the other direction. When it rains it is going to run towards the breeder when he is feeding.
Nice stuff. I enjoyed it. ---------- Just My Take On Things

They look really nice. I want one send to me will ya. Mine slopes the same way, I was informed that to if you do that it is easier to see your birds while they are on the roof. That one doesn't have much slope don't know if it would matter. ---------- RT Williams

I like my roof to slope towards me also, to see which birds are still on the roof. I cut a piece of 2 inch pvc pipe in half on the table saww to make a small gutter on mine. Those are some very nice looking boxs, wouldnt change a thing... I would be a little worried about the glass greenhouse in the neighbors yard tho. 1 good rolldown and well, you know...LOL ---------- Butch @ Sundance Roller Lofts

I like the dowel idea but do the birds fight all night or does it incourage breeding. I know that it would cut down on the scarping. ---------- David Curneal

poacher...Great looken kitboxes...One question?? I saw in the first set of photos their is a pole with 2 cross bars. I've noticed that alot of Europeans have this. Can you explain to me, what this does and how to use it? I'd like to incorporate something like that with my loft. If you want contact me direct at: hdwindjammer@yahoo.com I'd appreciate a detailed explanation...

Very nice kit box ,,David I have three kit box and in one of them I have like dowel running across like that one in pic and they do fight but that s why I have that box totally dark to prevent having sex orgy and fighting and that box is for birds that give me problems, I don't scrape poo from rollers that are not worth it and they have to get along together by my choice and if retrain they go back to the box with the condominiums perches but never bred from....headache breeds headaches... --------- Ralph

Paul, I think its just a landing pole. A place for them to land before they get to the loft roof. I suppose this would be handy if you have a lot of trees around the loft. I`ve often wondered about putting one up as I do have a lot of trees and my birds will often circle for quite some time before making it down to the roof. I believe Wally Fort had one at his place when we were there for the FDB fly a couple years ago.
But then, In a competition. Would this maybe allow them to land sooner and maybe DQ??? hmmm... ---------- Butch @ Sundance Roller Lofts

Paul those are landing poles. some people use these so the birds coming down land there first and most likely prevent from bumping .but it adds more stages for the birds coming to trap I like 2 step land down on kit box and in through trap door... Monty use one for this same reason.
but as butch stated above because of trees is another reason too. ---------- Ralph

Thanks Butch and Ralph for the explanation.... I kinda thouhgt it looked kool. But since I don't have any trees around my loft, guess it would be impractical for me to use this landing system. ---------- Fly High and Roll On
