Hello, I built a loft and currently I only have 2 pairs of fancies in it (old german owl and modena) but I'd like to get something that I can let out and watch fly around. Is it ok to keep rollers and racers in the same loft? I would like to let them out occasionally and watch them fly around, but I'm afraid the rollers would flock with the racers and fly away only to get lost. Would the rollers just stay and fly around the house? Thanks for your time.

You need to think what you really want to have first. You can have all of them in the same loft just to have them. But if you really want to get serious on a breed you need to do it right. It takes a lot of time to manage rollers and for the other breeds I don't know were to start.

You don't have to train a roller to act like a homer but you can never train a homer to roll like a roller. Chances are... your rollers will develope a homer habit...laying all day long on the poles...cruisn elsewhere for foods...except roll like you want them to. If you just like pigeons period...whatever you would like is fine....but if you really want to push the full potential out of your roller (s)...you might not want to mix them up....also...your oversized male homers might hump your female rollers creating hollers or romers....mutt. good luck and have fun doing what you do.

I agree with the guys above,when your
Rollers start rolling you have to keep them with other rollers that roll .they will learn how to work like a team .If you fly with homers they don't roll so it won't induce the others rollers to roll.they will tend to fly flat like the homers something you don't want.thats why we roller guys study our birds and break then down into teams.birds that roll together with quality and another team with birds that haven't begun to roll yet. you see you have to really think about what you want and decide what you want to do..In the end when you do the right thing you will be happy .
