I have a problem with my breeders and am not sure what's the deal. I relocated 2 years ago from L.A to Arizona and befor this I had broken up my pairs and had not breed from them for about 5 years. Now that I have built a loft and have the time and room to breed my birds are not doing to good. They are from 1995-2004 the youngest one. I have always kept them healthy with all the vitamins, oils and clean water. I put down 8 pairs and in three months only 2 squabs is what i have to show for. Any sugestions for these birds that i have. ---------- "Our Angels Loft" Tavo

I have a open loft made of mostly wire. It has a half wood and half wire roof. I have feeders with every vitamin known to man in them. I notice on some days they choose one vitamin over the other . I guess a piegon knows best on what his body needs at the time. I also put defferent fertility dressing and wheat germ oil on the feed along with feeders that have defferent types of grit and oyster shells. Oh and if you dont use fertility pills make sure you give them lots of vitamin E. Don't get me wrong I just dont breed old birds i have young ones that I breed from also because thiers alot of hitting and missing with the old ones. Heres my record with the old ones.Cprc 1663- 1991 son of AVRC 580 - BLACK MAGIC gave me 6 babies this year. CPRC # 11- 1993 son of 778 has not stoped yes some times he misses but for the most part he hits like a young bird. My open loft has no bird older then 1993 in it. I'm thinking of taking all of my birds born in thearly 90's out of the Indivisual breeding pens and putting them in the outside open sun loft to get more productive years out of them. The only thing that is young in it is the hens. I always use hens that have never been mated plus they have to be treated for worms, paramixo and parathyphod. Sorry if I did not spell the two major disease correct. But if all you have is young birds maybe its time to start searching for some young ones.

Benny those are some nice birds 1663, 11, and 3259. Do you still have 605?
Is 3259 still hitting? How about 605?
My oldest bird is a 93 Jaconette "Domino" was hitting last season, but missed a few rounds this year. Have 3 cocks that are missing and 3 hens that are not laying. Slit them and have them on vitamins and some fertility pills. Hope they get going again. ---------- Efren Lopez SGVS http://lopezloft22.bravehost.com/

Tavo,
I would run them through some meds and them build them up on vitamins and fertility pills prior to breeding them. I am having some issues as well so in the same boat as you.

Thanks Efren, pure roller. It seems that's one thing I have to do. I spoke to Alton Davis and he also recomends the same thing. Thanks for the input. ---------- "Our Angels Loft" Tavo

Elopez I gave the 605 hen to someone when she stop hittig. A year and a half ago 3259 gave me 2 fertile eggs. I took the eggs from him and put them under a young pair. That turn out to be mistake because they let the babies die after hatching the eggs just a couple of days before. I just put him back down. I had to pay Dr. Smoke 747 a visit to get a dose of those wonder pills. Maybe I'll get lucky maybe not but what the hell you can't blame me for trying after all I seen some wierd things happen before. Say how is your DOMINO cock made.
