He might be wagging his tail but that dog ain't pretty or good lookin'and I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole.I like handsome dogs which you don't have to worry about having your hand ripped off.El es feo y peligrosso. ---------- Kel. Rum-30 Lofts
dude...don't get mad over this. those are some REALLY nice looking blue pitts. i wouldn't mind getting one if the thought that it might get stolen wasn't in the back of my mind.
off topic though...does anyone own, or know someone who owns a solid black female german shepherd and interested in breeding? i'm looking for a good guard dog since there's a lot of people reporting they've been getting their birds stolen.
please don't be so narrow minded about pit bulls. it is true what people say. dogs are not born bad, it's how the dog is raised. which goes back to the whole psychological debate of nature vs. nurture.
Chill MG! All those caps letters are giving me a headache! A lot of guys here are on your side, but your also gonna get some other opinions! Had a pit once, it attacked the neighbors little girl! I had to take a framing hammer to him! He got a headache that he couldnt recover from!
I'm with Kelly on the smaller breeds, just as loyal and smart! All I need is to be warned that something is going on out back they don't miss anything! I can handle it from there!
I love them dogs Kelly! Its been awile but I think it was Gwardo, lupi, and loucita! Am I close? LOL ---------- Val
Nick,I guess if you live in Watts you need that kind of protection. My doors are never locked(don't know where the keys are)and my keys are always in my truck 'cept if I go to town. ---------- Kel. Rum-30 Lofts
damn in my city you need vicious dogs to protect the house doors locked and metal bars on the windows ..... and metal bars on your loft ---------- Watts uppp homeboy
Every dog has a purpose thats just my opion,, some people get dogs for compaionship, some for hunting, some for show, and some for protection.. if you look at the history of the 'Pit bull, you will find that it was breed to be a all purpose dog. and yes it boils down to how you raise the dog, and what the purpose is. for me I have two pits.I have a grandmother & grandson and have had this same strain my whole life. and they are for the protection of my compound. They are not dog park material,, and like i said that is not why i have them, people who visit me rarely even know I have a dog in my house.. she is a great dog and family member, extreamly well trained ,, sits , gives five, rolls over, plays dead, and is trained to attack on command.. i think before we go smashing someones choice of dogs we need to look at our own reason for keeping dog's.. and believe me they vary extreamly..once you know this it is up to you to control the enviroment and situations you put yourself and the dogs in..my dogs work!! and have proveded years of compaionship and quality protection, and thats my reason for havingum....Just my opion..

damn KELLY make ya kinda glad you live an fly your birds in gods country or close to it,like you my doors are never locked an my loft an kit boxs are wide open in the back yard
Square, You are very correct in what you say. Alot of folks buy dogs like they do rollers. They don't know what they want out of the dog/birds, they don't do any research on the family/breed to determine how they will perform and what type of training/care is required. The end result is often not what they wanted so the family/breed is given a bad name and thrown out for someone else to deal with.
One major strike against Pits is that a large number of individuals can be very hard to predict due to piss poor breeding for many years. The breed originally served two purposes, companion dogs and fighting dogs, neither was bred to be a man killer. Dog fighting fell out of graces and alot of high drive fighting strains were mixed into companion strains. Not the breeds fault but the result of piss poor breeding practices.
When you take an animal out of it's intended purpose and or breed out of unstable/cull stock, the results are usually disastrous. Every breed of dog has some history of biting humans but Pits unfortunately have a history of mauling humans.
Hey Nick, I'll win em alright ya don't wanna compete with the Bank of Kelly, but Hey you're making me suspicious now with all the comments such as that last one.Hah!I got freinds in CSIS(canadian security and intelligence service)and we're looking into finding out exactly where you live and the licence plate of your ferrari.lol.geez,what are you at for the Ferholtz birds of Alans??$256 or something?I don't log onto the NPRA auction page unless my missus is busy. ---------- Kel. hey katyroller just to let you know there are more attacks on humans by black labs and other dogs a year than there are pitbulls attacking humans in the last 4 years added up so before you say that they have been known to maul humans do a little research im not trying to disrespect you im just tired of people accusing pitbulls as being monsters i have a friend that has a pit and its the best dog and most loving dog i have ever seen in my life and most well behaved if i could have a pit i would but my parents think they are monsters so just wanting to inform you a little there and just to tell you agian i mean no offense or disrespect

city-side, No offense or disrespect taken. My statement about Pits mauling humans, is referring to the number of serious attacks that have resulted in serious permanent injury or death. Unfortunately, Pits do lead that category. Maulings are considered very serious attacks that are life threatening or result in death, not one or two bites, end of attack. I have no problem with Pits only irresponsible owners, for that matter I have problems with all irresponsible dog owners, irregardless of breed. Peace,
I'm with Katyroller on this I know what he is trying to say. and you right too City. I had them for more them 25 yrs, and I'm talking the fighting pits .the oldtimers back then didn't allow a people biter to be bred didn't want that gene pass on.. but these dogs fell in the hands of the wrong people and they got a bad name for it..I wouldn't trade my pit for anything, but now we need to have them tattoo here ,register.Insurance ,,walk them with a muzzle on..spayed,,its sad ,,, for me... meanwhile my friends mix shepherd next door is running around free biting people.. I guess I have to go back to what I use to own the Pure True German Shepherd dog.. ---------- Ralph

Here's a little ammunition for you Pit lovers. Heard on the radio yesterday that a study was done to rank the most vicious dog breeds by the number of bite incidents. I didn't catch who the study was conducted by but I am looking for it and will post it if I can find it. Anyway, the Pit was ranked #16, I don't know what they gave dogs like the G. Sheperd or Rott. #1-#4 in order were the Dachsund(wiener dog), Chihuhua, Jack Russell Terrier and the Akita. Even the DJ's said they were surprised the Pit wasn't #1. :)
I had a friend who was a veterinarian, kept his Pit in his office, gentle, sweet dog, loves everyone.
Friends at church had three Pits that they raised lovingly from puppies. Were outside mowing their lawn one day, left the door open, dogs went in the house and ripped their baby girl apart, literally. Legs in one room, arms in another. Not sure how this happens, but I know that dogs do things in packs that they wouldn't normally do by themselves.
Laura, What probably happened with the neighbor was that they did not properly establish a pecking order. Dogs look at their family members as their pack and everyone has a place in the pack. They will challenge each other and continue to try to move up on the pecking order. When dogs fail to understand that they are below ALL humans on the pecking order, things can go wrong. Tracey
Too bad every family can't be educated on training? Pits before they choose one for the family dog. That baby was certainly too helpless to establish alpha pecking order!
I am a dog lover and believe in raising kids with dogs. I do not recommend leaving toddlers and infants, with ANY dog. I don't care how well trained, how loyal, big or small or how cute. Dogs like humans are independent thinkers and there is no way to know what is going on in their heads at any given moment. Tracey
