Well guys since i got my birds stolen...I figure the best way to not get your birds stolen are:
#1. Dont post pics of your favorite birds/Breeders online and never mention anything about there performance/background and who you got them from...
#2. Never post your address and phone # online...
#3. Never invite anyone over that call you out of the blue to see if you have birds for sale...
#4. Always keep an close eye on your birds...
#5. Have a guard dog around 24/7...
#6. Dont fly your birds too much or else people will spot them and steal them when they know your gone on a vacation or etc...
#7. Dont post video clips of your birds also...That'll give the thieves an idea of how your kits perform...
#8. You guys could add more for those who had experience this situation before...

I'll bet 8 out of 10 times it is someone you know that is stealing your birds and most of the time they have talked to you about them and even watched you fly them. It's not that many people that raise pigeons so watch the air, if you see rollers follow them and see where they land.Chances are they will have some of yours.

Have you heard of the "Dogo Argentino"?
"The Argentine Dogo was developed in Argentina by Dr. Antonio Nores Martinez in the 1920's. He wanted a dog that was a good pack hunter and guardian, but could also be trusted with the family. He started with a now extinct mastiff-type breed called the Dog of Cordoba. He added Great Dane, Boxer, Spanish Mastiff, Bulldog, Bull Terrier, Great Pyrenees, Pointer, Irish Wolfhound and Dogue de Bordeaux. The resulting breed, not only met Martinez,' original expectations as a big game hunter and family guardian, but has also been successful as a guide dog and in military and police work. He created a bullish and fearless hunter with great stamina and a light coat capable of deflecting, rather than absorbing, heat. The breed instantly appealed to people who organize and enjoy dogfights, an activity still popular in many parts of South America and elsewhere. Unfortunately this gave the dog a bad reputation in Britain. Britain has national legislation to control dogs in public. The Dangerous Dogs Act (1991) specifies that three breeds, the Fila Brazileiro, Dogo Argentino and Japanese Tosa, are totally banned. A fourth breed, the American Pit Bull Terrier, is allowed only under severe restrictions. It must be registered, neutered, tattooed, microchipped and has to carry insurance. It cannot be bred or imported and when in public it must be muzzled, leashed and handled by a person over 16 years of age at all times. This is a real shame. When properly raised these are all great dogs. A dog is what the master makes of it. Not all breeds are for everyone. People teach these dogs to fight giving them a bad name. Banning the breed is not the way to solve the problem. Some of the Argentine Dogo's talents are hunting, tracking, watchdogging, guarding, police work, narcotics detection, military, work, competitive obedience, and schutzhund." ---------- FLO www.blacked-out-loft.webs.com SAKTOWN, KALI4NIA

I'd really like to see someone shoot someone over stealing some pigeons. The roller guys would be in the news again big time. Alarms and dogs, that's all you need.

1. I would suggest motion detector lights mounted by the loft. Scum bags like to work in the dark.
2. If you loft is not too far from you house I would also suggest setting up a baby monotor in you loft and the other by you bed at night. Now don't laugh they really work and it is a good chance you can find out who they are. On top of that you can hear the soothing sounds of the birds cooing and flying in the loft. Not nuts it really works. 3. Move to different part of the country where birds thieves do not live. I have had pigeons for over 60 years and never had any stolen. 4. Let it be know that you have a security system in your loft, especially any strangers who show up. You might even run some electrical wires aroung in the loft just to make it look good. Dogs have to be feed every day and they can also cause injury and not necessary the right party. Guns kill. Do we want to go through a court battle. Not me Just my humble ideas. Richard

You know now days you can get a very cheap camera that will send an auto signal to a Video Recorder if someone sets it off by a motion sensor or like my web cam has a motion sensor that if anything moves around it it records on your computer for like 20 seconds what's going on. I used it to catch one of my dogs getting on the kitchen counter getting things off. I wasn't sure which one it was. It works great and then you have proof the the police who's been stealing them from you.

The NBRC membership issue does print its members name, address, city, and phone#. I would hope that it's members are not thieves. Most of the trouble I have had with thieves has been with kids I did not know who knew they couldnt afford to buy the birds they saw in the air. I did find my birds and got the started on the right track and havent had any trouble since. Most of the people who fly in clubs are serious about rollers and it is usually a tight knit group. I suppose there are rouge groups around that cause all the trouble. ---------- They gotta Spin to win.....Jay

this still depends on where u live. I personally wouldn't relocate to get away from pigeon thieves and I live where 80% of the homes in my neighborhood are covered with bars and the bars aren't to keep the residents in you follow me? you don't up and leave but you learn to protect you and yours to the best of your ability. So if someone is creeping around your yard you're not gonna say " hey are you trying to steal my pigeons?" you're goin to protect your family by any means necessary! ---------- "Maan pops trippin he want me to ask for my bike back"
