ok is it the hen or the cock that doesn't always pass on those good spinning genes or is this true for both?

In order to find out which bird is passing on the goods swith matings to a couple of different birds. If they produce equeal progeny with all mates or most mates then that is the prepotent bird. If you are lucky they will both be prepotent.
