I just checked out my last squeak for the season that I was seeing if his leg looks big enough to put a band on yet and their is an egg in with it. It's nest mate died at a few days old this one is about 6 or 7 days old. I've seen the cock pushing the hen around like wanting to build a new nest but I was going to break the pair up after this squeak gets a little bigger. Are they going to hurt the squeak? Should I just break the eggs now before she tries sitting on it? Should I put a new nest in and put the squeak in it? I'm stumped on this one.

Thanks for the input. I just got back in from putting another nest in the same box and put the little squeak in the new nest. They are trying to build a new nest around the squeak and then I didn't know if she would try laying on him as well as the egg or what. They don't seem to mind that the squeak moved into a different nest. I will break the new eggs but I'll wait until I'm ready to wean the squeak. Bert
