for those of you who have muff pigeons, do you guys band the youngs earlier then what you would normally do for non-muff youngs?

Yes. You have to band them eary. If not, you will never get them on

I use larger sized bands for my muffs. Also, sometimes I band the birds high, above the "elbow joint". You have to get the bands on when the feathers are just starting to grow, or it might be too late. Sometimes I have been forced to use cut bands, and I also bought some clip on bands to make sure that I am keeping things straight.
