SS, Take a close look at the birds and see if they are falling straight. Reason I say that is that I have seen some of my birds that actually fall backward while rolling instead of straight down. Roll time is the same but distance is not. The birds that fall backward tend to be young birds that throw themselves into the roll.

ANEWKITT I think you are way off the mark 10 miles per hour = 52,800 feet per hour = about 14 feet per second. So its just under 9mph to 10 feet drop in 1 second.

I have seen birds that drop faster than others and some that seem that are not droping at all. Some drop doing big loops and some shrink and do more Revolutions.
How I usually tell is how far they drop away from the kit compare it to how many birds I'm flying. Each bird is using on a average of 2 feet of space you count how many birds is close to the distance that the bird drop.
4 birds flying together 4x2' = 8' + gap
----()---- ----()---- ----()---- ----()----
This will be around 10' depending how tight they kit
