hey fellas let out my kit today, regular time about 7:00PM flew their best 2day ever. but stayed on wire ,did not feed them 2day called them in at 8:00PM only 2 of 30 came down when they were called in ?????????????????
ever happen to any body?? hope owls dont get them live in desert( coachella valley)

They should want to go in in the morn. I dont think that the owl will be a problem. just leave ur cage open for them to go in.

Yep! When I was training my first young kit! Made a few mistakes and had to set up some quartz lights a few times and got most of them in! The rest, I would be out just after day break and rattle the feed can and call them in!

Work on your feed amounts the day before! I asume they were young birds. Its all about managing the feed!

MAN!!I`M STILL SICK TO MY STOMACH,I LOST A FULL KIT 3 DAYS AGO.I DIDNT FEED OR FLY THE NIGHT BEFORE AND I ALLWAYS FLY IN THE EVENING.IDFIGURED ILL FLY IN THE MORNING THE NEXT DAY,FLEW THEM AND THEY JUST DISAPERED INTO THE SKY......I ONLY GOT FIVE BACK (WHAT A BUMMER)

i had a overfly on suday and lost 5 birds out of 21. Hey CV be careful when u fly them that late.Thats way mine stayed out. I will never fly after 7pm again its just trouble waiting to happen if they dont land soon.

first off your flying them to late 7 are you kidding me thats almost dark second they werent hunry enough to get called in ,, try flying them at 5 so you have 3 hours for them to get back in loft if they get lost ...

I had the same problem so I went out at 10:30 and open the kit door and (locked up the birds that had returned earlier of course) turned a light on in their. And all of my birds returned within 10 minutes..

CVRC you said you don't think the owls with bother pigeons? Pigeon is a Great Horned Owls favorite meal! I don't know what kind of owls you have but I see them eating pigeon all the time here in Idaho!

Bertie, i live 2 blocks from rick and my have stayed out and have never been bothered. I never said they wouldn't i just said i don't think they will.

Sounds to me like they weren"t HUNGRY enough. A sign of overfeeding. And as far as wire sitting you should have flagged them off. Don't let them land on anything but the roof of the kitbox.
