I have setup a new site feature that enables a person to conduct a customized "Self Interview". This format will allow an individual to talk about what HE wants to talk about.
He simply selects the question he wants to respond to by selecting the question from the pull-down menus and off he goes...
This information will then be formated for publishing either here on the site and/or the free weekly E-Newsletter which I am currently working on.
Here is the link that will show you exactly what it would be:
Click For Self Interview
It is still in the construction stage so I would like to get feedback and the kinds of questions you would like to see asked of top Fanciers and Competitors and just regular roller pigeon breeders of all levels of experience. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Hey All, I appreciate the guys who have tried the new feature! Yes, I will set it up to be able to respond to all the questions and more as suggested...
In just a few moments of reading the responses to the questions, I feel like I know a couple of you guys better already and also have an idea of what you are doing with your birds and your perspective. Cool!
Please give me more suggestion for questions that I can add to the menu...the kind of things you really want to know about.
Thanks in advance! ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Hey Jay, I agree! I already received several self-interviews. I will refine it some more tomorrow. I will include interviews along with the E-Newsletter going out this weekend.
Thanks to those who completed the current set of questions. When I get the entire interview questions put together, feel free to respond to them as well. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Hey wishiwon2, the spam code is in a little "graphic box at the bottom of the page near a field where you type it in as you see it. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I have created about 50 or questions that can be answered online and tried to keep a theme going. Here is the list of questions I included in the pull down menus:
=====Theme 1: STARTING OUT *What advice do you have for novice acquiring birds? *When should a novice fly competition? *What problems is a novice likely to run into? *Should a novice join the NBRC? Why? *Who should a novice go to for advice? *Why should a young person start raising rollers? *What other advice do you have? *What roller books would you recommend?
=====Theme 2: BREEDING STOCK PAIRS *What does breeding “best to best” mean? *What is “line breeding” and “in breeding”? *How do I decide which kind of breeding method to use? *When and should I ever bring in an out-cross? *What minimal traits should a breeder exhibit when flown? *What other advice do you have?
=====Theme 3: WEANING & TRAINING YOUNG BIRDS *How do you wean young birds from nest? *How do you settle them? *What process do you follow to get them flying 30 to 45 minutes? *What do you feed them and what amounts? *What are you looking for over the first 6 months or so? *What other advice do you have?
=====Theme 4: REMOVING YOUNG BIRDS FROM KIT STOCK *For what behavior will you remove a young bird from kit stock? *How important is proper kit management? *What other advice do you have?
=====Theme 5: TRAINING HOLDOVER BIRDS *How do you train a kit for competition? *What do you feed your kit to prepare? *What is better for competition, short or deeper rollers? *What other advice do you have?
=====Theme 6: REMOVING HOLDOVER BIRDS FROM KIT STOCK *For what behavior will you remove an old bird from kit stock? *Are there any behaviors that can be fixed through proper training? *What other advice do you have?
=====Theme 7: SELECTING BREEDERS FROM KIT STOCK *What kind of kit birds makes the best breeding stock? *How long does it take to establish a unique family line or strain? *How many generations until I can consider them “my family”? *What other advice do you have?
=====Theme 8: DISEASE - HEALTH *What sort of nutritional supplements are useful? *What feeds mixes do you use? *How do you prepare breeders before you pair them? *What disease are my breeders likely to face? *What medications do you keep on hand? *Which wormer do you use?
=====Theme 9: EXPERIENCED ROLLER FANCIERS *Do you color breed for balance? *Is good body type important, as is good rolling style? *Does bird aerodynamics and balance play a part of rolling? *Do you always breed toward the standard? Why or why not? *What rare colors do you think are now acceptable in BR? *How long have you been working with your current stock? *What are your best birds colors? How do they stand out from the rest? *Are you building a family around any particular bird and why? *How many birds do you breed each year? *Do you think your cough is pigeon related? *How many birds do you have in each kit box? *How do you remember every youngster out of 46 pairs? *What are your goals for 2009?
I invite anyone of any experience to check it out and do your best to complete as many questions as you like. You may also go at it in short spurts and just complete a few questions and answers and submit them and come back at another time to hit some more of them. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

I want to thank each site member who so far took some time to take the Self Interview. Especially Joe Urbon, he answered many of the questions of the updated themes and provided very interesting answers. A good read! Thanks!
To All, when you can, jump on there and have at it. Your interview will be published both in the Reading Room and E-Newsletter. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Cool feature Tony. I wish there were a way to go back and edit. If there is I have not been able to get there. I noticed just as I was sending it through that I should have proof read it and made at least one correction that I seen. There are soooo many questions that I really didnt get a chance to read them all I just picked ones that I felt I could shed a little light on. But all in all a great addition to this site.
