The USA is getting our butts spanked again in the WC. The best we are going to do is 4 of the top 10 finishers.

Not quite sure what your point is Nick. The best we as competitors can do is put the best team we have in the air on fly day. If its their time it will be a good day. More times than not things dont go as we would want them to. That doesnt mean we quit or complain, it just means we try again next year. Joe

Nick the UK had a real bad World Cup year but guess what! We will regroup and try to be stronger next year.
Also we are looking into confiscating all our birds back from South Africa lol.

Joe,

Not complaining; not giving up. Just pointing out a happening that seems to be happening often lately. Like Wayne says, it may be time to regroup.

Nick I believe that the happenings that you are referring to are more due to uncontrollable issues rather than the difference in Quality or loft management. Rarely is a kit flown in the WC in the US or in the FF under the optimum conditions. When the stars do line up in order then you come away with a fly like Rich put together. Most guys that fly rollers now days have on the average 6 monthes of good flying conditions. Compared to 15 years ago I could fly year round and rarely see a falcon. That has alot to do with what you see today. Alot of great fliers dont even have birds any more due to the huge BOP populations in their areas. Joe

PS. I wasnt saying you were complaining or quitting that was just a general statement.

Im not sure about other patrs of the world, but i think here in the great USA we may never be able to fly like we use to.The Hawks have increased in # so bad they are here all year long.I know in my area when i flew birds in the 80s i saw a falcon once a year,a cooper maybe twice a year ,and a redtial only when i whent to the decert.
Our days of winning fib fly's my be over.

Personally I don't see 4 in the top 10 or 9 in the top 20 as a spanking.

Why is that a spanking?

Does the fact that it's Winter in South Africa make a difference? I used to like flying in the Winter.

"All that matters is winning"That is alot of crap if I ever heard it.All that matters is you enjoy what you have and keep looking forward.Diving breeds and Orientals are the future in pigeon flying!!

I agree with birdman. How can anyone view the fact that a single country is winning the world cup and placing 50% of the kits in the top 10 or 20? Boy....talk about your negative view of things......To me that is a huge sucess.

The magic is in the diversity of the competitors, the spirit of competition. The Olympics of ROLLERS! In the early beginning of the WC the USA and England was the only nations in it. In those early years the USA took most of the top spots, we had more qualifiers than England. The USA was responsible for seeing the fly was funded. In a few years England was supporting their part. As more and more nations came onboard, as more and more good kits from around the world entered the WC, the ODDS went down that the USA would fill the top positions. It is simple math and the weather always is a factor.....how well I know that! LOL! Weather will often play a big roll in determining the winners. Luck, good weather, good birds, proper management, dealing with BOP, shake it all up and see who wins.

Count the number of competitors from the USA in this years WC and to have only 3 finish in the top 10? We got spanked. I say this not as a negetive comment, but simply as a fact. I have not started to investigate why. I don't know what geographic areas have more difficulties with this and that. It may be interesting to attempt to investigate.

!st, 4th, and 5th I wouldn't call that a butt spanking at all Nick, unless it is the U.S. doing the spanking

There are 68 flyers making the finals; 37 are from the US. Over half were from the US. Go back even further and count up the number that flew in the WC prelims and compare that number with the rest of the world. We should have done better.

Thank you Scott Campbell; thank you Aubrey Thibodeaux; thank you Richard Hayes. You guys did a hell of a job.

7 placed in the top 20. It is not 54%, but I guess it is GOOD ENOUGH, huh guys? GOOD ENOUGH
