If you change the wood chips every 2 weeks or so.. It is fine! There will be mold etc. if the loft isn't well ventilated. But if it is, then yeah its fine.. Thats what I use. Smells nice too!

Horse bedding pine shavings is ok but the best is pellet stove pellets made of compressed sawdust if you have a dampness problem. They keep soaking up moisture quite awhile. If it is dry and well ventilated at times I get away with using the dry scraped droppings so with the garlic and ACV in the birds water the dried poop actually works good to keep things smelling sweet and the bugs away. The big squab farms and many pigeon fanciers use this method called "Deep Loft Litter". ---------- Kel. When it comes to the health of the birds I look at what the top Racing homer guys do,their birds need to be in tip top condition to win.Alot of the top guys have switched to grated or expanded metal floors. No dust,no dampness, good ventilation, easy to keep clean and good strong healthy birds.
