Today was a bird swap and meet event in Colorado. I came across a few oriental rollers. Can any one tell me about them? ---------- Erwin

I'm in the process of acquiring some Flying Orientals and I know there are show strains and flying strains. The flying strains are said to be excellent hawk/falcon evaders and magnificent performers in the air as well.Shoot me an e-mail(click on my user profile for the addy) and I'll hook you up with a link to a good talk forum which discusses all aspects of raising, training and flying ORs.Swap meets are not the best place to buy pigeons of the flying breeds as it is hard to know what you are getting. ---------- Kel. Winroller Orientals are some of the greatest flying birds there is. BUT!!!!!! They are not Birminghams and will not perform like birminghams. They kit very well contrary to what somebody dreamed up. Sorry Cristian. The only people I hear say they dont kit well have never had them. I dont breed out birds just like with Birms. But if you are looking for Birmingham type performance you wont get it from OR's.
Hey Pat66 have you put the birds up yet? I have been flying the almond and the black for about two weeks now. The black likes to fly, the white is a challenge. But I am used to that.

Thanks every one for the information.. I do enjoy the BR and I have plenty of time on my hand.. So I figure why not try something different. You can't judge a book by it's cover. And yes.. I'm a sucker for all types of Pigeons. ---------- Erwin

Sippi, YES,I have one pair up,they are about as stubborn as mine, yes the blacks and almonds seem to be the better birds with my line,I will send you a set of yong ones whenever you want,I do like these stubborn buggers though, the whites seem to be reluctant to get up,I flew the parents the other day, they are long flyers, flew for 4 hours but it was the first they were out in 3 months! keep me posted,I will do the same ---------- Pat
