Hey Marcus, Simple white homers are worth about $30 a bird. Hey,who says homers are no fun to watch? When they are loft flying out and the henery attacks lots of fun to watch. That SOB almost always leaves frustrated. ---------- Kel. Rum-30 Lofts

Dang it Kel,Ya blew it!!! I was going to offer Marcus 10 white homers for ONLY $100,000!!!!!!!!! Just kiddin' Marcus, you should be able to pick up non pedigreed white homers for $5-$15 each.Figure for them to start about $25-$40 with a ped. It's your bird,it's worth what ever you want it to be.I've got a few I wouldn't take $500 for because I can't replace them and I've given very good birds away.I've got a buddy in Texas and we swap birds back and forth, who ever is getting the bird pays the shipping and that's it.We've been doing that for about 10 years now.I've seen some lofts that I wouldn't even sell a junk bird to,the bird deserves better than that.I guess my price depends on who wants the bird, from $0 to "you aint gettin' it" Any kids that are interested,I try to hook them up with a good start for nothing. IT entirely depends on what you want. If you go to a guys house and request squeekers then there is more than likely going to be a set price per bird. Once the bird has shown its worth to you then you are at liberty to charge what ever you like. If somebody wants it bad enough they will pay what you ask. What I am trying to say is there really is no set price on a good bird. The only thing I can guarantee is that no matter how much you ask there will always be somebody that thinks you screwed whoever bought it. Just remember, A bird is only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it. Joe ---------- J.M.Urbon Lofts A Proven Family of Spinners http://www.freewebs.com/jmurbonlofts/

George, That is a decent answer.. What I always tell people is; I sell birds for what they are worth to me. I really don't consider what someone wants to steal 30 years of work and selection for.. I ask myself what is the value of this bird to me and that is what I ask for it.. If what I think the bird is worth and what some guy who knows nothing of the work that went into making the family thinks it's worth don't match.. He can by birds from another guy who doesn't value his birds or his years of work much.. I have no problem at all with that.. If a guy Like Bertie came to me wanting birds.. I would sell him rollers that were worth $5 or $10 dollars to me.. Don't think much of your birds if your selling them for that do you?? Now based on friendship.. Well, I would give a friend I trust a bird I could never sell for the value I place on it. Just my Take on it George.. A birds value is what it is worth to the man that bred it. It's value is not what some guy who wants something cheap thinks its worth.. Just my opinion,, KGB

So your saying that the more you pay for a bird the better the bird is. I see now. So if I raise the price of my birds they will be better.

I'm really just messing with the guys about price Kenny. I know I got a supper deal on my birds and I screwed up with the guy I got them from. I'm sorry for that but it a done deal now. I'm sure what ever you or anyone else here on this site can get out of your birds is well worth it. Some times I let my teasing and kidding around get a bit out of hand. One thing I am very glad about is that I'm sure now I got the birds that I had in the right hands and he will do what they were meant to do.

No Bert, What I'm saying is aman that puts no value in his rollers or his time, doesn't set the price of a good roller for those that do. Just because you have put little time, effort or money into your rollers, does not mean you set the price of good rollers or another mans birds. Bert, If I came over your place and said I want to buy your truck for $20 bucks.. You would say HELL it's worth way more than that to me!! If I then said no it's not.. Not to me.. Who would be right about the value of your truck?? You who owns it and worked and paid for it, or me who wants it for nothing.. Or the same thing $20 bucks.. You place the value on what you own and work for. That is how it should be!! The value should not be set by those who are cheap and have very little invested in what they want for nothing. I will do the same and no one ever has to buy a roller from me. I have yet to put a gun to guys head and say,, you either buy this bird from me or else.. Come to think of it, I don't know any that has.. Just my opinion Bert. KGB
PS.. Oh and yea.. The fact you value your birds so little, would make them worth less to me. If you think they are worthless, why should I think anymore of them??

Thanks Bertie I will do my best with the Birds I got from you.
A bird, or anything else is worth the highest amount a person is willing to pay, and the lowest amount a person is willing to take for it. To me 40 to 60 dollars is probably the most I would pay. However I am just figuring out these birds, I don't want to spend a lot until I figure out what I am doing. In a few years when I feel like I have an idea what I am dong I would spend more for a bird if I thought it would improve what have. How much would depend an how much improvement and how bad I wanted that improvement. ---------- RT Williams

What a bird is worth is what you are willing to pay for it. To me the best of breeders are worth maybe $50 bucks; the best of kit birds are worth maybe $15 bucks. Now I know that will not make even the better breeders who sell birds happy, but that is me. The best birds I have ever recieved were free. It all depends on your relationship with the seller how much you are going to spend, but I will not spend more than I (me-I) think they are worth. Maybe 50 bucks for the best breeder; maybe 15 bucks for the best kit bird.
Another thing to realize; all breeders no matter how good were once kit birds (probably). Thinking in those terms; I would not pay more than 15 bucks. So, to me the best is worth 15 bucks.
As a seller of birds; my birds are free. So does that mean my birds are worth nothing? Maybe. ---------- Just My Take On Things

Boy Nick you really know how to throw a monkey wrench in a discussion.LOL. As preposterous as you last statement was it is the thinking of alot of guys. I have birds in my loft I wouldnt sell for $1000.00. Does that mean they are worth that? Probably not but to me they are priceless and will die in my loft. I have only sold a couple old birds and half a dozen squeekers since I have had rollers and dont plan on selling any in the near future. But that doesnt mean I dont get calls about birds. I just dont breed enough to sell them. I try to keep enough around to keep me happy and not everyone else. However I strongly agree with KGB on this subject. I also have a tremendous amount of time and effort into this family of birds I have and they are definately worth more than chump change to me if I were inerested in selling them. Kenny has put a lot of years into his birds and his fly records show that every year. But you would probably expect to get birds from him for 15 bucks a birds. Is that correct. A mans Time isn't worth much to you I take it. ---------- J.M.Urbon Lofts A Proven Family of Spinners http://www.freewebs.com/jmurbonlofts/

One more thing(I just heard my friend Joe Urbon say "what now").
I do not sell birds; I keep the best; and cull the rest. Now if you are a friend and you need some; I will never give you my culls. Now there are a few that are going to die of old age at my lofts, so they are off limits. ---------- Just My Take On Things

Not sure what you mean by " What Now" Nick. I understand were you are comming from but will agree to disagree with you is all. You know me well enough to know that I dont put culls up for sell. I donate birds for auction/Raffles every once in a while and all I can offer from them is that they are out of the best I have in stock. I have alot of friends flying birds from my loft and I have never recieved a nickel from any of them. I sold a half a dozen squeekers to a friend about 8 years ago and that was because he requested squeekers. I like to fly my own squeekers out. I had given him birds prior to that and I have given him birds since then. I hope you didnt take what I said as an attack on you nick I was more thinking out loud than anything and trying to let you know my views on the subject. Sorry if I offended you as it was not my intention. Joe ---------- J.M.Urbon Lofts A Proven Family of Spinners http://www.freewebs.com/jmurbonlofts/

I think a bird is worth what ever you are willing to take for it, Ive had people i never met come down my house and wach my kit, usualy they will set their eyes on the best birds in the kit.now that bird is not for sale in fact none of the A team birds are for sale, lets say this guy wants your best bird,at what prize are you willing to let it go.thats the prize of the bird. Ive been offered 150 dollars for my best birds 2 years ago and i didnt take it,so i guess the prize of that bird was higher,or the guy cought me on a week that i had money LOL. Hector Coya
