I tryed to band a bird yesterday. It had so many pin feathers on its feet that I could not get the band on. I know that some of you do not like the muffed birds. I don't like them having this much. I have some that are sprinkled with feathers on their feet. But this one was loaded. Just wondering if any of you have ever encountered this.

You may be trying to band him too late by the sounds of it.

I have a couple of breeders that throw off little ones like that. I just try to band them a little earlier. Then watch them to make sue they don't kick them off!

Seems like to me they should use a bigger band for a muff. Isn't the band very tight when they grow all the feathers out on their feet?

I do what Val does band them early and just keep an eye on them so the band wont fall off.

i know that there is muff bands that are bigger than regular roller bands... if this continues try to get a few of them so u could have them banded...

Size 8 bands are plenty big enough for a muffed roller.

you could try rapping cling fim round its leg its the stuff you wrap food in to keep fresh dont know what its called over there its easy pulled off when the ring is on
