how long do your birds fly? let my young birds out this morning. these birds are three month old. been flying them three weeks. just started kitting properly this last week. let them go at nine this morning and they did not come in while four thirty this afternoon. that was after twenty hours since feeding. seven and a half hours in the air.three have not returned. i thought mabye a hawk had been at them but usually after a hawk they come down seperate. but these came down together.hoping the other three return tomorrow

What kind of birds?

Feeding them pure wheat gets them too strong and they have no fat so they fly for a while. Sometimes you need to add some weight to them.

Bill
Ive never in 12 years having rollers fly for 7 n half hours and i would think it would be impossible for a 3 month old pigeon to fly this length of time.
I think what happened these pigeons landed on a roof or a nearby building leaving two pigeons there then came back later.
A baked bean tin feeds 20 pigeons, We in the UK use this as a rough guide when feeding tweaking the measure here and there when needed.
