There are some regions now that are looking for judges for the on coming NBRC Fall Fly.
Give up your name now if you are interested in judging.
Follow the judge who is judging in your region around and see what he sees for a day or two.
Stop complaining and get involved. ---------- Just My Take On Things

Need some people to step up! If you can do Region 5 you will a chance to get to know me and you may find that I am not the ass wipe you think I was. Then again, you may find out that I am the ass wipe you thought I was. Either way, you will have something to talk about.
It is hard to believe that with all the know it alls in this forum nobody wants to be a judge. Chicken shit. ---------- Just My Take On Things

Gabe, this is Nick's sweet side! LOL ---------- Val

Now you understand why no one wants to judge.. it is not easy spending time away from home and work.
I was told by a freind that he drove hundreds of miles to Judge and the club he judged didnt even give him a Doller for Gas and they also didnt Buy him a Ham sandwich.
This freind said he will never Judge a Fly again... DO YOU BLAME HIM.
You would be surprised at how many cheap bastards are out there...

George, I do not blame him, but not every club or region is the same as far as I know on this side they will be fed and housed. ---------- Sal Ortiz

Nick I have judged all over and to tell you the truth I would still be judging but my time restraints with work have not allowed me to in a couple years. I have always had first class treatment in any arear or region I have judged so that really has no bearing on my not judgeing. I do hope to get over to see you and your region someday but for now I fear it will have to wait. Joe

Nick,
My eyesight is not good enough to judge, I just got done with my 5 eye surgery. I love the birds and watching them but just not for to long at any one time yet. I do drive some but only in places I know like the back of my hand. When I came down to your house I did a great job hiding it, I thinK? Anyways we press on here and keep going. Did you see where I was the in NBRC Fly this year! #11 in my region just behind Bob.

Butch,
Don't be shy of volunteering for duty(LOL). The NBRC and WC are truly hurting for those to do the deed. It is hard work and very few will give you much credence for your time. I sweated bullets with each kit I judged; trying to catch every qualifying moment. I know I missed some.
For those that are working, you basically give up a vacation....hard to do. I am not for sure if I would have. Now that I have retired it is payback time. It is time for me to pay my dues with my time.
I have total admiration for the likes of Scott Campbell who often takes a week off from his job and family to judge. He is also serving as a WC RD. Cliff Ball serves as the NBRC Fly Director and was heavily involved in last year's Convention. There are others that are doing thier part, but we need more, many more.
It is a tough decision. Just pick one area; one thing and give your time and energy. ---------- Just My Take On Things

Nick, A year ago spring I judged the world cup. I traveled from coast to coast took 5 weeks off of work to do this and enjoyed every minute of it. I traveled from coast to coast that year. I have been asked to come back from a lot of the clubs because I tell them straight up what I see and what I like. I don't believe in mercy points because all that will lead to is someone getting hurt. I have been judging for 7 to 8 years now and don't regret a minute of it. But now a days its hard to take off 2 weeks at a time to judge birds and still make things easy at the home front.
I was a Regional director for the world cup back in the middle 90's and was the Ohio state fly director for a few years. So I know what it takes to do what is asked of the people who follow our foot steps. I know that a lot of the money comes directly from the regional director pocket just to make sure it goes off without a hick-up.
Then you have a few who will complain about the director and how he was unfair or how the judge sucked. Which all in all makes it hard for someone to take the time away from there family and spend there vacation judging someones birds who really don't give a rats butt since they didn't do good.
So if I plan on judging this year I will probably judge somewhere close to home within a 12 hour drive from here. I like to get back down to Alabama, Mississippi, Back up north and east to my buddies.
But it all really depends on the work schedule. Its hard to loose two weeks pay when your a construction worker when its either feast or famine.
But I will step up to the plate. I just might be a little selective LOL LOL

I wish I had the experience, My slow time is from Labor day to Memorial day, I could do it, but am no where near capable of the task, at this point. Who is judging in Utah, I would like to hang out and learn a few things. maybe I will be ready in a few years?

Im in for judging. Work schedule allows for me to time off in Spring more, best suited for WC fly time. Willing to judge FF if given notice and can get time away from work.
Dont know what kind of judge I am ... I do the job fairly and honest, I think I know what good pigeons are.

Jon,
You live in Idaho, I believe. You need to let your RD in the WC and FF that you are available and those regions of the same in nearby regions.

Wishiwon judged the prelims here in Utah for the WC. He did a good job, everyone that I know thought he did the job well. His time and efforts were appreciated. If you judge again John let me know I would like to tag along and be your scribe. Thanks ---------- RT Williams
