Hey jynce, Baytril has been forbidden by the government bureaucracy. Pigeon suppliers were told to stop selling it. However, I spoke with a roller fancier who said his vet was still giving shots of the stuff.
Our "back-up" Enroxil was also taken off the market which was the nearest substitute.
Be careful of any black market supply, don't get yourself caught up in any drug stings. Comply with the law.
There are other acceptable antibiotics that are used for farm animals and poultry, also a few pigeon meds.
Do some research and educate yourself as to how to take care of your own animals. With over 250 birds, I can't afford to run to the vet every time a pigeon sneezes.
Get yourself a couple good pigeon health books and you will be better informed and able to tackle the challenges that the birds throw at you.
Some titles I suggest and are available here for purchase are:
"The Flying Vets Pigeon Health & Management" by Dr Colin Walker
"Avian Medicine: Principles & Application" Abridged Edition by Donald Zantop
"A Veterinary Approach To Pigeon Health" by Dr David Marx ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

If I recall what you posted, sounds like your birds have either paratyphoid or PMV. One is bacterial and the other viral.
You need to isolate the birds ASAP to prevent spreading the problem. You have to determine what the problem is and I can recommend a product designed for it.
If the bird was a breeder and feeding squabs, my total guess would be its paratyphoid in which case I would give my birds Neomycin 325 to deal with the source of what I believed the problem to be. This is a product that works in the gut.
Other problems from a bacterial infection of the gut are Salmonella and E-coli. They can lead to squabs dying in the egg before hatching, wet nests, birds getting thin in the nest and dying.
Keep the nests and surrounding's clean. Once a week should do it. Preventative measures may be needed to get things under control.
Tell us more about the loft and feeding conditions in which the bird is living under and what it is doing as far as feeding youngsters or just perching in the loft, etc...
NOTE: I am not a vet and any information here is merely anecdotal. I recommend self-educating by building your own library or visiting a vet when you are going to use medications for off label use. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

hey!jnyce she either is lacking in calcium or she eat to much grit. sometimes a hen will eat so much grit for the calcium she over indulges and this will cause them to go down for a day or two. put her by herself and let the cock feed the young and make sure she can get to the water, she should be okay in a day or two. coyote

Hey turkey buzzard, I hesitated to mention this because I don't know this to be a fact, and if it is, will the buyer need a prescription to show at the border?
If you try to sneak it through, I imagine you face the consequences of drug smuggling if caught.
Anyone doing this better check it out first. Mis-information can get you in deep doodoo and ignorance of the law is no excuse I hear. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Hey Jerry, we ship using the postal service. On order checkout, you can select parcel post which is usually 2 to 3 days longer than Priority Mail which is advertised at 2 to 3 days.
So really pretty quick in most cases. We do not charge handling fees so what the post office charges us is what we charge to you. Thanks for asking about it. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria
