Nick,
The difference between you and the average pos(t)er is 90% of the time you actually have something to say when you post.
I see a lot of "nice birds Bill" or "nice loft Fred". Three word posts piss me off. When these guys get to 1000 posts, get a hat brag about it,and they dont know crap about how the roller world works and still ask rookie questions. The 1000 post mark used to mean something.

LOVE YA NICK!

Yes. The 1000 post does use to mean something. I got into this site in 2006 and look at me now, not even half way to get myself a hat. It's like passing a driver license when you've reach 1000 posts, that's what I think. I learn a lot of things here, but I still need to be clearer. But 3000, dang Nick, you've have been posting a lot of good ideas and set some pretty good examples to this hobby. I remember you use to help me too when I got into this site a couple of years ago. Well done Nick, I hope you get those deep blue birds that you'll talking about...lol

There were several that started on Tony's forum about the same time. Scott Campbell(he would have 3000 if he didn't get his butt kicked off the forum-LMAO); Kenny Billings; Paul Fullerton; David Strait; Brian McCormick; Kenny Hartman (who used to be known as the "Redneck Hippie); George Ruiz has been on awhile. There has been many very good guys come and go and then come back, again. There has been several that went and never returned. There are many I miss; they argued very well(LOL). I would like to see the likes of Camillo Paci and Brian McCormick again and there are others. Hell, I would even like to see some of the escapees that went to "the other site".

Tony probably doesn't know this, but I had a stroke a few years back and reading and posting on this forum helped speed my recovery. I learned to reuse my right hand, because I would not allow myself to use just the left hand to type. I read the posts out loud to gain my speech back (about drove my wife crazy). So, this has really been my special home on the internet.

Tony, I appreciated the Honda Fit when I went over 2000 posts. It is a good little car, but I don't want another car or even a hat. A pair of your deepest blues would be just fine.

Thanks Tony for having the vision for this whole thing. I know it has NOT made you a wealthy man, but I think you are happy.

Same here Nick, I wish to see those guys back in the forum. The one that corrected me most was Brian McCormick. Believe me, he argue very well. There was a bunch of good guys that never came back.
It's good to hear that you are doing well. We are like family on site.

Scott,The Brians,Joe Urban,Firl,Billings,Naylor,Paul F and a few others I cant rememeber cuz Tony took off the first two years of posts. Theres probably accesss but I am too lazy today.

They were instrumental in getting me to recognize the proper implementation of rules regs management and dealing with other fanciers. Paul is a year or so ahead of me and was my online mentor for a while.
Scott might call you a dumass for letting your squeakers out right after you feed them late. Standing there watching them fly off into the sunset. Then he would do something cool like explain exactly how to manage your babies to flyers. Each of the men I mentioned are/were instrumental in helping and advising a multitude of fanciers and most of them continue to do so.
Thats what it is all about fellas.

Glad you recovered Nick.Ya know over the past few yers I wondered a few times about some of the things you posted.College educated and literate fellow you are. In retrospect they were probably "rehab" posts.

Kenny,

You are right about Scott. I found the same with Brian McCormick. He and I could get into very heated arguements then would ask if he could send me a kit of birds after I had lost most of a kit in an overfly. This actually happen within a couple of weeks before a competition. He would do this and has done it without charge to even cover his mailing costs.

Scott sent Paul Fullerton an entire kit after he had lost his kit in an overfly just weeks before competition. Paul did pretty well in the competition with Scott's birds, if I can recall.

That is what it is all about, ain't it?

Nick,
I remember both instances very well. Someone did the same for Jay Alminer too. There is no bottom to the well of brotherhood in this hobby. Sometimes from the least likely of sources.

Hey Nick, Thanks for being here and being a part of this awesome group! It pleases me that this site aided in some small way to your recovery...

You have been one of several big supporters of the site that has encouraged me during the down times and to think that you had your own issues you were dealing with. Thanks for that!

You ARE selfless and a giver. You have much to teach us. I look forward to your next 3000 posts.

I will be honored to gift you a pair of the "DEEP BLUE" young birds and send them to you this year, on me. ;-)

As far as this site making me wealthy, I remember the words from the movie classic "Its A Wonderful Life", to paraphrase a line at the end of the movie: "a man who has plenty of friends is already wealthy".

Nick, I am glad to count you among my friends. Take care.

Way to go Nick. I am happy to know that you’ve recovered. When I met you in person, I did not realize you had a stroke because you did not look it or act it. However, I know your wife had some health issue a while back. Hope every thing is well.

I know. I miss the old crew. We learned allot off each other. Paul F. helped me out when I had my first overfly with 10 young birds. 5 of them made it to the breeding loft and discarded and lost the rest to hawks.

I think Paul F. gave Scott’s birds to Brian M.
