if u let ur young birds out of the kit box for the first time what are ur expectations of them

Just to set on the kit box and look around! I expect them to be able to trap back in if they get confused, I will grab them and set them on the landing board and coax them in! After a couple of days of this, they will usually start flying up a few feet and right back down. They might go to the breeders loft (6' away) and back a few times! I let them do this for a few days also! After a week or so of this, the give them a quick flag and they should go up and circle the yard a couple times and they set back down! Thats it, I want them to feel that their kit box is the safe zone! If I keep flagging them, they will find another place to land. Each day they should stay up longer than the last!

Be patient and don't push them to hard. Keep them hungry before you let them out. Don't let go to the ground and start foraging for food either. Give them one safe zone and thats it!
