Great post for us newbies. I have a question though. I have a Black (blue check spread cock?) It has red undertones, and I think it would have white flights but instead they look like dirty brown (red) color. I have one round out of him and got a red squeak, and a blue check. His mate is a black with white flights. What would you call the color he is, and what cause the red undertones? I though recessive red, however the red squeaker is not solid enough red to be a recessive red. Thanks for the lesson.

It is a good post and actually genetics is a lot easier than many think. There are those who like to make you think there is some kind of wizardrey going on and to make you think you are a dumb ass. There are some good quick references out there which give you an oportunity to understand genetics without having to comment it to memory. ---------- Just My Take On Things
