What is the deepest roll that has been recorded?

Are birds capable of rolling 70ft-100ft??

I have had a couple that roll 2 telephone poles easy with control. No wing change and that is hard for some birds. You can have them deeper but ones they past pole 1/2 some start to wing change some. And some I had that roll even more but they do it ones and they never do it again they short it out.

I usually breed for 20-40 feet birds so I get less and some deeper than that. Usually this don't last either because they hit or the BOP spots them out easier.

Game, I would keep them in the 20-60 foot range after that they are not to much fun to watch just like Quickspin stated wing switching and everything else.

I have not seen the velocity needed for comp much past thirty feet.

That said we have been working to get Fireballs that roll past four hundred. Three hundred seems to be some kind of invisible barrier.

They arent near as fast as Birms should be. Some also have a tendency to roll into a sideways position or wing switch.

I dont think there are very many that can hold it much past thirty feet and maintain good quality and velocity.
There are exceptions though, just not many.

I breed a hen in 07 that rolled for a solid 8 seconds, some folks from Bakersfield were able to see it on a fun fly at my house here in Lake Isabella, ca.. she is now in stock after flying for a year..the cool thing about her is that she wouldent twizzle a flip till she was at alitude,, I hope she can produce the same... the deeper ones are just for my enjoyment... and that is my main focus, I really dont have the disere to compete any more.... deep sucessuful rollers are a good time to watch ,,, good luck...

i have a pair that produce red selfs and red checkers the checks come int the roll at about 3 or 4 months and stay up, but the red selfs roll about 300 feet and the more they drop the faster and straighter the roll is. Its a good show...... and i do have witnesses....

1/4 to a 1/2 mile maybe? All the way from not being able to see him to hit the ground. Course that was back in the day around 1980 or so when I did have some

If there are birds that are capable of rolling hundreds of feet.... why do people aim for birds that roll only 25-30ft for competition?? Besides visibilty...

I had a fireball that rolled approximately 375-400', as tight as any BR and nothing more than a blur. The only problem was that it only did it ONCE, if you know what I mean! Seriously, most of my Fireballs that roll with good form and velocity are in the 30-50'range and there are good families of BR's that can do that.

Personally, I always liked the one's that went from 50-75 feet, had quite a few of them back in the day. They gave ya a good show without killing themselves
