I am thinking ahead to next year and what to breed. I was wondering where to find info on polygamous breeding. How to get the Cock to top 2 or 3 hens, good setups, fostering, etc. IS there a book some where that discusses this topic?
Thanks for the help.

I have 'How to Breed Better Better roller", I will reread it. I don't recall a section talking about the details of polygammy breeding.

Polygamus or the Bull System is only benificial if you have a top class pre potent Cock
This is how it worked for me with six hens, sure it would work with more if space available, also does away with fostering.and makes for a tight gene pool, with first round being half brothers/sisters to Studs round.
Allow six pairs to sit and rear their first round.
Take Cocks away when youngster are reared, clean out bowls and boxs
Feed Hen and water in one closed side of box, reintroduce Cocks for 2 hours and overnight,no contact with hens,do this for 4 days.,when Cocks are away, hens can be let out of boxs, stretch their wings.etc
When this is happening,Stud Cock is also celibite.
On fifth day leave Stud Cock into section where he should strut his stuff, and hens should respond from their boxes
After 15 mins release hen from no 1 box, things being right, she will stoop for him right away,as soon as deed is done, place hen back in her box,Remove Stud to his own place
Rest for 30 mins and repeat with second hen, mark down details etc,if any hen refuses, she is first hen the next day
Do exactly the same procedure, but in reverse order the second day,and exactly the same procedure on day three.
remove Stud Cock, allowing original Cocks in overnight, but again no contact,
When second egg is laid, open box,Cocks will sit eggs,no problems, five days check eggs,if any infertile, check mating records ,see if there is a reason, you could in this case let original Cock breed with hen again if you wish

Sal not really a lot of work, you will need them three days to swing it though, long weekend ,whatever, but its a good and easy system,if done right Some of the benifits are.

Same pairs with original cock romancing his hen,for the -three days

Familiarity with boxs, already having reared young there

No fosters required no matching sit times, hatch times, etc.
I have definitely found it to be the simplest Bull system,if you have got those few free days

Rick MEE has a pick of his polygamy box on his website. Hope you don't mind Tony. Do a search for Rick Mee rollers you should be able to find it.
I used a kit box this year, took one side of perches out and put in four nest boxes. One cock covered three hens with no problems. I had fosters ready to go in the main loft. It worked well. I just put them together at he same time. The hens laid with in a few days of each other, and about 15 days from when I put them in.
I put the fosters together 2 days after the polygamy pairs and they laid about a day after the main hens. I put 6 pairs together and used wooden eggs. I let the main hens sit the eggs for a week and then yanked the left over fosters and main hens a day apart, Main hens first, they laid together again.
After that I had to wait for fosters, and broke every thing up. but The main hens could have sat wooden eggs for about week again and the first round of foster would have been ready again.
I would take a pick but my son wanted his own birds so I took the divider out, and he used my breeding kit box for his two pair. But I can post a Pick of that, you will have to image the dividers to make 4 small nest boxes instead of two.

I forgot to say that I changed the box to 2 nest boxes from 4. Will Change back, but my son wanted his own bird and this was the easist way. he onlyhas 2 pair.
will make four holes and divide in half. I do not thinnk ir matters to much how you do it. If you take a small area with only one cock and 3 to 4 hens the hens will all lay fertile eggs. Just make sure you have fosters for them.
