I am wondering..i have a hen who when is out flying...always perform but she don't really roll deep..she does short rolls. She's paired up with a male who rolls about 30 to 60ft in depth. How would you determine the babies will perform? Help me out if anyone can.

Some birds come in early and some are in late, but with the pair you have it could take sometime by breeding the deepest hen you get out of this pair back to the father. But you might want to go with the better quality spin instead.

It will be hard for us to know because we don't know that family. You have to try them out and then you will know them. If the hen don't even drop 10-15 feet I wouldn't even try her. Because you will get birds like her that don't drop. Even with the cock that is deep the offspring will be off.

I usually breed 15'-40' pairs and get average depth of 30 feet.

Hey tou2son I would mate that cock to another hen that spins in the 30' -60' range! Still then it's a gamble but the odds of producing deep babies are increased.

right now. i'm in a situation where i have a good cock but i have no good hens. that's where i just decided to breed him to a hen that as long as it performs. i know it's not the best but i have to start off somewhere. so i was just wondering if that was a smart move or not.

if you were in South Africa it would have been easy!, we have a breed called the The South African Distance Roller. They are specifically bred for depth of roll. The SA record currently stand at 28.7 seconds of continuous roll. Hard to believe yeah but this was an outstanding roll but the average roll of these pigeons are around 10 seconds.

I am in a very different situation at the moment! I have two hens that are spinning fast and about 30'. I have no cocks to put them on. So, I am currently experimenting and just started a new kit. Hopefully something will come out of theis that I can work with seriously.

I`d like to see a really good 10 second spin... What is the bloodline difference or the breed difference in these S.African birds that spin this far? And how does the quality of the spin compare to the B/Roller?
