Tortoiseshells are blue T-checks with grizzle and bronze. T-check is the most dominant of the patterns. Grizzle and bronze are both dominant modifiers. Since the offspring will inherit one gene from each parent, pairing with a mate with similar traits will increase the likelihood of offspring being tortoiseshell.
