This latch is made of an old (recycled now) horse shoe and the ring comes from an old dilapidated halter. (Well, the first latch used an old beat-up halter, and then the next ones came off of good halters. AHEM!!!)

And I was so proud of the latches that I even made a cute little video that probably only pigeon folks can appreciate (or mechanic-minded folks)! :
Thats pretty slick. Its always cool to see how creative we can be. These dang little birds bring out the inventive side in us, dont they? Hows the birds doing? ---------- Butch @ Sundance Roller Lofts
Yes, I love this latch and the video doesn't show how easily it is opened and closed. Especially love that it's made from recycled hardware.
These young birds are starting to think of rolling . . . they are trapping GREAT. Some mornings, they fly for 30 minutes, but this morning, maybe the humidity caused them to only fly 5 minutes. I flushed them and they flew 5 more minutes then trapped in. Thanks for asking, Butch.
Sharing the pigeon house with baby chicks so even the pigeon food is being recycled! haha!
