I have homed 7 of my 17 birds. Yesterday I decide to fly 2 more in the kit that I have only had in the cage for 7 days figuring the two would fly with the 7 homed. Well when I let them out they flew with the kit and they flew for at least 30 minutes and very high. One of them was a great roller tight spin and depth of at least 20 feet. Problem is when the kit landed and and start to come in to the cage the two knew ones I added to the kit were no where to be found. Do you think they will come back?? One was a great bird.

i dont know much, but i had the same problem when i started a few years ago. i flew my birds the next day then the lost birds just flew out of a tree and flew with the kit. you could try that to see if it works.

Newbie if you are settling older birds they need much more than seven days. Otherwise you will risk losing more of them. I settle older birds at least three weeks and sometimes one or two will still take off and not come back.

Yea if they are older birds you gotta keep em locked up longer than a week!!
All my birds are young and I let them out after a week and they all stay around :)

I am one happy camper!!! I flew a 6 bird kit Friday afternoon when I got home from work hoping my 2 lost birds would see the kit and join. after the kit was flying for about 15 mins I notice 7 birds flying one of them spinning like crazy low and behold she was back. Soon as the kit landed and came in she came right in with them. The next morning I let them out to fly again and the second one I lost which was gone for 2 days joined the kit and was back I'm juiced LOL been flying them everyday since then.

I'm glad it all worked out. Seems like the ones that get lost the first time out, all ways finds it's way back. The ones that didn't once lost, never will find their way back.
I have come to believe, there are followers and leaders. The leaders need not to follow others to find it's way back.
