i was watching my birds today and one of my hens mounted its mate and did the dam thing is this normal---------- jerry t

I believe so...cuz the same thing happened wit my cuzin's birds..after mating the female mounted the male..wonder why they do this?? ---------- -mannyfresh- spins

It is quite common. The only problem comes when a really dominant hen and a passive cock and she will always want to top him. I had a pair like that this year and had to split them up because I was getting no fertile eggs. I put her with a young aggressive cock and turn the tables on her.

honestly i just threw out there second round yesterday due to not being fertile but there first round was good to go ---------- jerry t

Yes, they take turns sometimes. He will mount her and when it is concluded; she will mount him until concluded. Then they will strut around together like they just did a great thing. ---------- Just My Take On Things
