tou, As I understand the moult. Birds like dogs need to shed their dirty and broken feathers. During the moult or molt, they will look awful, this is normal. I fly my birds during the moult but do not push them. Some of the primary's are full of blood and it hurts to roll! After they finish moulting they will go back to the point of training they were in. A little oil coating their food once every few days will help them through their moult. I use olive oil or cod liver oil. I hope this helps.

tou.... you will notice alot more feathers on the floor of your loft or the kitboxes. Usually the months of August thru Setpember. Flax and Sunflower seed are VERY good to feed during the moult. I put in an 1/8 to a 1/4 cup per 10 birds. ---------- Fly High and Roll On Paul

Tou moult will run from July 1 to October 1 depending on the area of the country you are in. The birds will completely replace every feather on thier body. I usually takes at least two months unless you artificially speed it up. Birds can do funny things during the moult that they wouldnt normally do.

If anyone collects feathers, I got a shop vac full of them already...LOL Mine have been molting for several weeks now. Today I got a fairly clean loft. Tomorrow it`ll look like a feather pillow hit the fan. Thats how I know when mine are molting. ---------- Butch @ Sundance Roller Lofts
