Is it a young bird? It sounds to me like a youngster not comfortable with rolling. That may be why it wont roll in the air and dont want to fly. But hitting the loft sounds like a control issue. You can try locking it down for a couple weeks, feed it up good then start over with it, but it might be a waste of time. Sorry, not a lot of help. No magic answer here.I`m at a point where in my program, I got no time for a bird like this and I take them out pretty quick. Took me several years to figure that out...

Its a CULL,
Any bird that rolls landing or rolls taking off,Its a Cull, lack of controll period.Dont waste your time .
Work on birds that roll when they want' not when the roll controls them.Just my opinion.Hector Coya-SGVS

Sorry to say, but I agree with Hector. Those are traits you don't want to reproduce.

The only thing you can do is pull it and feed it up well and then return it to the kit and see if it improves. I have plenty of space and plenty of time so I have a loft that I pull the potential culls and put them in for a month or two. Then I take them back and put them in the kit to see if they have improved or quit the bad habit. Most dont make it and end up being culled anyway. But a few will come on and make good birds. I dont reccomend this unless you do have plenty of room and time though.

The bird is rolling when landing because it is starving and weak. Weakness wreck havoc on birds. Feed up the bird and don't worry about the bird not spinning like it used to!!! It is molting time for those birds even if they are not showing any loss of feather. The worst time to starve a bird is this time of year. Don't be cruel (lol).

I have learn from the beginning my mistakes and now I would like to share them.

1. do not collect birds.

2. don't play the waiting game too long.

Give the birds their time but sometimes it may be too long and while you are waiting for that particular bird to explode....they might not. Can you really wait for 5,10,20 birds to develope in a span of 10 years? might be too long. Give the bird a few years, keep the best and breed some more. Just because the bird is a roller, don't expect every roller to drop you 30 footers. that is why these great roller man in this forum tells you all the time "keep the best, cull the rest".

It's hard to advise someone to spend this much time on this bird at this age because every bird is different and every family of roller is different and that is why it's up to you as the trainer to ask yourself , "have I spent too much time on this bird?" You will know when you feel that that bird can't no longer perform to what you expect and you have to move on.

I have lots of birds that bump going in and out but I rest them for a month and and many came out of it now i keep a record of those birds that i had to retrain and i would not breed from them but to me a month is not alot of time I'm not talking years .so its worth my time especially if they are not any breeders where i live..It all depends on you and you will find out it could be you.under feeding them flying them hard when in molt.still my bird has got to pass the test no matter what before going into that breeding pen.

Come on guys!!! "Steer him Strong" dont "Steer him Wrong"..
The bottom line is the bird is a CULL!! don't waist your time. No matter what pair the bird is off of!
