I am breeding from an unproven pair of spinners . The male is a red check and the female is a yellow grizzle
So far they have raised me three pair this season . Alway throw one red check grizzel and a yellow grizzle in in pair .
So far the yellow grizzles are not spinning however the red check grizzles are going fast and doing 35 ft
The red grizzles youngsters are females.. How I determine which parent is producing the spinners ?
Who is the spin coming from the male or female? Please help
Kel i want to say thanks for the tip of using vinegar it keeps the smell down in the kit boxes

The yellow is coming from the hen; she doesn't cover any other color. The cock can cover anothor color, but I would bet your spinners are coming from the cock. The stiff yellows are coming from the hen, more than likely.
I would at least give them 8 months before you render judgement on thier off spring and consequently the breeding pair(maybe up to a year).
Some of my better birds did not really show full potential until nearly a year of uninterrupred flying. ---------- Just My Take On Things

Based upon my experience with rolling pigeons... the grizzles, torts and genetically inbred cheques usually carry the strongest performance linked genes from the cocks.
....however
There are exceptions to the rule such as the case regarding Richard Jaconette's "Black Rain".

Canspinners, I would fly the young for at least a year before making any judgement on the parents. But it takes 2!...LOL ---------- Sal Ortiz
