jw66, I fly and breed Ruby's and nothing but Ruby's. From my experience I find them easy to manage, medium to short in cast, very tight kitting, varying from 5 to 30 ft. in depth, hard and fast. I am totaly satisfied with them and would recommend them highly. They are a well founded strain and will save valuable time from the efforts of the original breeder (Tony) to the individual breeder.

I fly the Ruby Rollers and have just asked Tony to get me a good hen....I am short hens...LOL..I have had them since 2004. I am totally happy with them...I do have Mort Emami birds too..and I do cross them with the Ruby Rollers....the main reason is to develop my own strain and not ride some elses coat tails...and second...I have bread livestock for years and I alway like a challenge...I have improved some things in both strains with the crosses..but they improvements are something that "I" see....and others may see something else. Anyway..I really love the Rubys or I would not buy more......they are worth every cent.
I know Steve Bills flys Rubys...pure Rubys that he got from me..and some Mort birds..and he is happy with the Rubys...I know that Dwight wallace like what he saw at my house and is currently throwing his hat in the RUby roller ring.....anyway...they are a solid family of birds and you know that Tony has put his time in...and they go back to some of the best fliers in the SO Cal area...rock and ROLL

How many of you are winning flys with the "Ruby" rollers? How frequent are they? Are they more for the backyard fancier? or are they great competition birds also?

Ok...I fly Ruby and Mort....here is my fly record while having Ruby Rollers...
05 W/C Prelim 8th out of 19 06 W/C Prelim dont know.. 07 W.C Prelim 4th out of 14 08 W/C Prelim 2nd out of 15 Finals qualifier..Windy 0
Fall Fly 06 Prelim 3rd out of 16 Finals qualifier DQ not birds fault 07 Prelim 6th out of 11 Windy fly.. 08 Prelim 1st and 2nd out of 17 kits flown.
I flew in more fall flys...but there was no record on the NBRC site..which is crap...everything should be up.
Club Flys Sacramento Area
06 fly Season 1st Place 07 Fly Season 2nd Place
I think that is it...some of my lower scores were just part of having rollers...wind...getting attacked by BOP during the fly...or just plain fed them wrong..

I fly Rubys and am so impressed with the 3 young birds i purchased about a month ago I just ordered 3 more yesterday. The three i purchased a month ago are already starting their roll and they kit very well. I'm following Tony's recommendation and trying to have me at least 3 pairs of rubys for breeding.

Paul, looking at your W/C records, it looks like you are gonna get to the big show in a year or two. They are getting better each year. good job! ---------- Butch @ Sundance Roller Lofts

A question for those of you that have been flying them for a while:
Q: are the blue/black birds equal in performance to the ash red birds or birds with spread?
Please explain the differences you've noticed.

I found that they are equal across the board as far as performance...the Lavenders seem to be a little hotter then the rest. But to be honest.....it is the same across the board. I have stocked a blue check hen, Mealy hen, Two Lavender Cocks, Mealy Bald Cock, Red Check Cock and Mealy badge hen....so it is good across the board.

jw66........I started 4 yrs with a "good family" of birds at the time. But,hear I am 4yrs later with much more knowledge and experience under my belt. Iam starting all over again but, this time I will be starting off with a few pairs of Tony's Ruby. I have learned from past experience and the good words from the guys that have flown this family of birds that they are the real deal. The Ruby's produce just what I am looking for and want in a roller. This is just my honest opinion. You can take it for what its ---------- Fly High and Roll On Paul
