Paul I sit here watching this video with tears coming down my face,
It took me back home I was a victim of the first WTC Bombing ,My wife walks in and says whats a matter.what are you watching. her sister was in the 2nd twin tower and my brother was in the first. my brother made it out ok her sister has cancer in the blood and is always sick,,
just wanted to say thank you for being a fireman..
and to all of those fighting this cause..heavy stuff ,heavy stuff,,...

I know what you mean...when I see the fire trucks that are all smashed up and the people writing on them with there fingers through the dust...saying thank you and never forget...it just tears me up. When I start feeling that we as a country are in a mess and in a war etc...I watch that video and it brings back the strong emotions from that day...and that feeling of ......never forget...and then I get back on track.
I remember the day it happened...I was in a training class for urban search and rescue in the regional training center in Sacramento (an old air force base) anyway..half my class was the Sacramento Fire Department Urban Search and Rescue team and then all of a sudden pagers were going off like crazy...return to your fire stations etc...We were under attack.....basically the class was cancelled..half my class was in on there way to New York 12hrs later to help with the Search and Rescue efforts...everyone else returned to there fire stations...we staffed every piece of equipment that day..just in case.....but let me tell you..have over 300 of my brothers die....just killed me.....for the first time in my life I felt mortal..and firefighters usually feel immortal......that is what makes us do the crazy shit....the feeling of it wont get me....anyway...Glad you made it out buddy.

Thanks for posting Paul. How quickly we forget. They should have to play it every night on the news. I was in the air over Dallas when it came down. The pilot came on the intercom and said the president had declared a national emergency and we were ordered to land. I was put down in Dallas and literally put out on the street with 5000 other people stranded as they locked down the airport. I had to take a taxi two towns away just to find a place to stay that night. I for one wont ever forget why we are fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan. Took me two weeks to get back to Florida.

Yea I will never forget,, I was on leave for the birth of my son,, The day I was to return to Boise I.D was Sep 11. My flight was to leave redding,,, however when it all came down I hade to rent a rig and drive to Battle Mountain N.V.. Man it was crazy,,, all the jumper air craft were grounded,,, then on the 13th I made my last fire jump into the desert just outside of reno.... it was wierd because we had fighter planes escorting us I was amazed at how they could slow thos jets down to a crawl....Ill never forget...

ye i agree
not one of us will forget that day i remember feeling physicaly sick when it happend
my son is now taking his test to join the raf to hopefully be a fast jet piolot n has been told that he in time will be posted to iraqhopefully he passes n does his bit
