Yeah with this dry weather before the fall rains and high humidity come, and especially with all the feathers and dander floating around the loft with the birds in their moult, reall good time to give the lofts a good clean and get rid of all that dust and have good weather to dry everything out again.Even tho they are being real slobs right now dropping all their feathers everwhere, give 'em a good environment folks and set an example,eh!!HAH!!!---------- Kel. I'd love to know any thoughts on using pine wood shavings underneath the kit boxes. I started out using them, thinking it would be easier to rake them out than to scrape the floors. Would there be an easier way, or is there a drawback to doing it this way?

Laurita, you always have to scrape somewhat,no way around it so get used to it.Wear a dust mask.Shavings tend to blow into the corners is the problem with them. When there is a real dampness problem the pellets for pellet stoves work best for me otherwise don't use nothin and scrape every couple weeks.some folk just let the dry droppings build up when they scrape just spread 'em around and remove the excess so you can still open the door. ---------- Kel.
