Would anyone out there be willing to share some stories about "Dick Stephens" and his birds. i.e what kind of rollerman was he? how does his family of birds perform? any information on his "Old Family" and his new family ("Continental") he was working with when he died?

One of the most influencial pairs in the Pensom history was JLS-53-#23 and PRC-60-#9 that Dick owned. Even Monty had this blood in his birds (Coming from Bruce Cooper).
Dick and I fell out so my data will be skewed. I might add that may Dick rest in peace and all of the negative stuff should remain silent as he cannot defend himself now. His original family was not the same as the family he had when he passed away.

I only spoke with Dick on the phone. He was a great guy to just listen to. Man, he could go on and on with the old days and how the clubs were. It was easy to spend an hour on the phone with him.I only had one of his birds, a cock, BCR 99-101, blue check, white flight from his old family. He became the foundation for "my family". A nice bird, a little on the large side, but good spin, 20-25 ft. Never a problem.

hey gator45!
Dick was a very good friend of mine up until his death.
i have so many memories of talking to Dick on the phone and he use to tell me all the old things that happen back in the day with him and Bill Pensom. He use to say things like "if bill were alive today i know he would want this blue check cock". One of his favored expession to describe a roller was "ball bearing smooth". I use to talk to him at lease twice a week, it was like my pigeon high, i had to have it. Ruth his wife called me the other day to see how me and the wife were doing and of course she ask about the birds. its nice to talk to Ruth because she knew the family as well. The old pensom family that Dick had was based on a cock that was a gift from Pensom dark check 578. He still had that blood up until 98,when started to sell off his old family. I ask Dick why he was selling the old family and getting the Continental's and his reason were the old family was a later developing family and that times had change with the hawk situation and guys could'nt wait 12 months for a bird to come in the roll, so he obtained the Hatcher family of continentals. he finally convinced me to get some and i must say they are a nice family of birds. Before he died, he told Ruth to send his family of birds to me. When i received these birds I thought this was very special and i still do until this day. I pretty much talk to him until his very last breath and man i will never forget that.:(
