Grit made for pigeons has several needed ingredients. Some feed it free choice, some weekly. Some use just oyster shell. The pigeon has a gizzard and small granules are used to grind feed. If you feed seeds they need grit. If you just feed pellets grit isnt necessary. Many feed a mix of red, gray and oyster shell and let the birds decide. But I would feed it to them at least once a week. I mix it as part of my mix for my kit birds. They eat what they need and leave the rest in the tray.
