My birds still refuse to come straight down to the loft and always hit the tree first. I have been letting them eat as much as they can untill they lose interest once a day....

When can I start cutting the feed?

When is a bird considered a full adult? I let them eat a lot so they can grow nice and strong... so once they are big boys and girls I wanna start cutting the feed...

Thanks

They are fairly mature at five to six months old. That is when they start to get adult plumage. Sounds like you need to cut the feed today. Get control of the can and then you can ease the feed back up. They arent hungry enough if they go to the tree first. The may have a habit you cant break now also. The feed can is the only way. You can ruin them with kindness.

FEED IS KEY!!!!!!feed is the only way you will control them which means the less you feed them, the more they listen.doesn't mean starve them, but dont feed to much cut back little by little until its just enough for everyone.

One table spoon per bird ,after you have had them off feed for 24hrs. put feed in can size like fruit cocktail can or soup can. should be on floor of kit box with wings out. shake can and drop little amounts in feed tray till they slow down a little then pore remainder in tray. repeat the same thing every day and you will have them coming down and trapping in no time. feed can is the key to training them. 20 birds 20 table spoons no more no less. good luck JDA

Sometimes they need more than 20 tablespoons. You got to feel what your birds need.20 tblsps is not enough if you give them that allatime.A mature roller on the day it flies IMO needs more like 1.5 tblsps. The day before they fly, less than a tblsp.but then that varies with different birds.

You have to get them back in control first, or you will louse them to bad habits. Its all the feed can.

What ever age they are now, it doesn't matter, get their feed amount down and get control of them. It won't hurt them to get pulled down for a few days till you get them responding!
