I've had my first kit just a month or so now and I've been lucky so far to have mostly great weather.

But I am wondering if anyone has a list of weather conditions that the birds should absolutely not be allowed to fly in.

For example, pouring rain is an obvious threat. But what about a light drizzle? Or a cloudy day that doesn't quite look like rain? And what about a windy day - how hard does the wind have to blow before you think twice?

I want to get all of the flying time in I can before I have to lock them down. But don't want to put the birds at risk. (these are young birds, btw)

Cloudy, drizzly days are the best for flying here. Not likely if it's raining a bit for the falcons to be out flying.Any wind over 15mph is dicey as they will get blown down wind too much and could be lost.Too much wind causes them to fly to fast and hard and you won't get much performance.Strong winds teach YBs bad habits.

Clear blue sky, no wind with a high pressure, they will sky out and overfly.

Karen... all suggestions the list made are correct. I found out that its just something that you have to play with with your birds. ..just take alittle time to get to know your birds and see what they like.

all the little song birds n wild birds are out in all weather they have to or they wont survive

I fly in a lot of wind here, but be careful. Build the young birds up to it. Be careful if a front is coming in, I've been caught twice this year now with these quick storms coming through.

Thanks everyone for your advice. Much appreciated. These are the subtle kinds of things that we newcomers have to be really careful about. Just trying not to learn the "hard way" if I can help it, lol.

Rain will exite your birds and they would have their best performance ever.

It is much safer for me to fly in the rain. (not driving rain).
It reduces the visibility of the falcons.

The better the weather for me…… the worse for the pigeons.
