I have PURE PENSOMS,,, NO,,, I have PURE PENSOMS.

The responses are mind boggling. If a person was interested in obtaining a pair of breeders, and learning the truth, with proof on paper!!
Who, whom, or group in your opinion
would have the correct answers.

I know there are feather merchants that use his name to sell birds and they fly like Sea Gulls and are the wrong color, shape, & size, but to someone who is not familiar with this family they would never know the difference.

I believe there is a Pensom Club that only has Pure Pensom or fly’s Pensom,I may be mistaken.

Due to a job layoff I have time to pursue this information.

I am looking for a contact that would be willing to work with a Pensom rookie and would have patience to answer questions about the man & birds.

At this time I could not afford to make any purchases, but would like to learn more from a reliable source and maybe make a purchase next year.

I have seen great birds fly that were not Pensom, this is not about who has the best birds.

There are many people that have great birds from different families many of them are on Tony’s awesome site.

The name, color, or paper does not make a True Champion.
A handler can mess up a great bird
or make poor birds better.

I just want to learn the correct information.
A history lesson.

Thanks

Jerry Allen

The term Pensom roller has a twofold meaning. One is the birds that trace back to the original imports known as Pensoms in America and was recognize by the PRC since 1944.
The other meaning are the birds that Pensom bred himself. Names mean nothing if the birds do not perform!
I will contact you Jerry.

Jerry,
What is a Pensom?
It has been a long time since Pensom was breeding birds. If someone is selling birds as Pensoms I would be very wary that they are selling something other than rolling ability.

The term Pensom roller has nothing to do with Pensom breeding the bird at all. It is the same as someone calling a bird a fireball. Did Graham breed it? Of course not as the term Pensom roller was used even before Pensom came to America. It is a strain.

Jerry - There are a lot of misconceptions and most are just that! The PRC is still in existence and if you want more information please contact me. Also, I find it hard to comprehend people saying they have pure this and that since it is rarely used today especially regarding the Pensom strain. Maybe this is the occurrence in the region of the country you live in. Another thing is why not just get the best pigeons that fit your neeeds regardless of the strain?

Thanks Pat!

What it means is you have paper on the birds that will go back to the original pensom imports. The prc went to show birds in the 70s and they are not flying birds.Made up from Carl Silveys birds and others.

JDA - The PRC is no longer a show club but a flying club. Our members have birds directly from or down from the following fanciers: Bruce Cooper, Herb Sparkes, Howard McCully, Bill Pensom, Stan Plona and J. Leroy Smith. The old show members are now URCA members.

I'd be careful, JT. Guys like you, with your interest in these birds, are ripe for plucking by the pedigree feather merchants. I would recommend that you only buy, based on what you see in the air. Do not take some guy's word for it, from hundreds or thousands of miles away. Anything else puts your hard-earned dollars at risk....something you may not want to do if you are laid off....

Cliff - That is sound advice. Another thing is if you cannot trust the man you sure as heaven cannot trust the birds he raises. My dad always said that to me as a child.
