With me just now getting back into things I want to do it right and not just get some rollers to fly. I guess back in the day I was doing things wrong. I kept feed out 24/7 and let them fly whenever they wanted to. all I did was left me hole open and they'd come and go as they please. I also just let them stay paired and breed year round and never seperated anything from anything. I had a great time as a kid just kicking back in the backyard and watching my birds fly and flip. In reading some of the posts on here, I see some of the error in my ways on feeding, seperating them and such and not letting them just roam free as I used to do. So as I take it, it's best to have a breeder loft as well an one for a few flyers that I choose. What would be wrong with my old way except for the feed out 24/7. When I let them out to fly, I see now that you can control them by letting them out hungry so you can get them back in the loft when you're ready, not when they please. What are the benifits of seperating them and having a seperate fly loft group vs. my old ways? I just want to do tihngs right this time is all and I'm sure you've discussed this in the past but there's alot of posts on here. LOL THANKS

One of the biggest reasons is, birds of prey will eat you up! They are many times worse than back in the 70s. I used to leave mine out all day back then too with no worries, but not anymore! Once they find you, they are be relentless until you lock up or run out of birds.

understand, just not much you can do these days. WAYYYY back in the day when I had them, we knew how to handle them LOL Just can't do that anymore. I just finished drawing my plans out for the loft so hopefully, I can start construction next weekend. SHouldn't cost but 300-400 bucks for a 8'x8' thats 7' tall in the front and 6 in the rear
