When you set up you fly route, I bet you don't drive from one on the West side and then go to one on the East side. You set it up to go the most direct and shortest route between each flyer. Same here, airline tickets are costing big bucks and we can't afford to fly back and forth between the East and West coasts. IF the West coast regions wanted to have an "ELIMINATION FLY" and have all your qualifiers compete for one finals position and we could get the other 3 time zones to do the same; in theory the finals could be between 4 kits. This is getting to be about time and money. Why do we keep trying to drive a square peg into a round hole? Let's find a better time of the year to fly the Finals fly. Could each region find an acceptable time to fly their regional, between Sept. 1 thru March 15 Th.? Then Fly the finals April 1 thru June 1. What is best for you? If the BOP, molt, and weather are becoming a major hindrance in the fall, let's look for a better season to fly in. Things are changing, we must consider the possibilities of change also.

Cliff, this last idea is a good one. It should be taken into consideration as you implied cost of living increases mean loss of time for people to travel and judge.

Cliff,
you and I both know that California more than pays for the cost of bringing the judge out here. Once he's in San Diego, he actually doesn't have to get on a plane at all and we can drive him up through Cali, judging at least 10 finalists for the cost of 1 flight into LA.
If you want to cut down on the cost, the way to do it is to make sure new regions have enough entries to pay for the flight.
