...stay away? I let the birds out in the flight pen a week ago because it was cold for a bit before that and it warmed up.. And then 4 days ago some of the birds had just one mite on them so I deloused them all with powder, but that is a pain in the butt. I have to be real careful because the show is coming.. And I need them to be looking good with good feathers.. I have never had a really sick bird in my whole pigeon career.. lol, only an odd winter sneeze cold, which I can get rid of in 2-3 days.. But every odd year I'll find ONE (just one usually) on a bird, and it's a pain.. But yeah anything easier? Like something internally? that you guys gives a couple times a year?

Garlic is a must in their diet as far as I'm concerned. One clove, crush it a bit and throw it in a gallon fount and leave it in the loft a couple days at least, dumping the water out of the bottom every day to refreshen it.Ancient Chinese remedy,Grasshoppa.

Bugs and parasites don't like the smell of garlic and when a bird or human eats or drinks garlic, yeah,it works.

Have you ever stuffed yer nose in the fount that had garlic in it a couple days?Pretty strong smell.Like us if we eat garlic the birds must get used to it but they must sure be releived to get some sweet water again or that fruity smelling electrovites.Oh and the ACV in the drinking water also helps to keep the droppings from being too smelly.

Ok so this is what I have done. Each pile will go into each 4litre jug, is this right?????? lol I realized garlic can't be squished into powder form.. :) Will the birds be harmed if they accidentally eat a chunk from the water somehow? I crushed it with a garlic crusher..

I pound mine but it don't look like that how many you have crush in one of those piles..must be the different garlic you using cause mine don't look like that.and don't worry about them eating it they just drink the water if anything.

LOL for true boys!!!Andrew, the bulb is the whole garlic.A clove is just one peice of that bulb. It's really not neccessary to crush it to Bolivia LOL just put on a block and give it a wack with yer hand and throw it in the water fount, skin and all.As long as the insides of the clove are exposed to the water it works just fine.
John, that's what this website is all about.Passing on good information.

The use of Garlic as an antiseptic was in great demand during the past war... As an antiseptic, its use has long been recognized. In the late war it was widely employed in the control of suppuration in wounds. The raw juice is expressed, diluted with water, and put on swabs of sterilized Sphagnum moss, which are applied to the wound. Where this treatment has been given, it has been proved that there have been no septic results, and the lives of thousands of men have been saved by its use.

I'm gonna try that beatin' to Bolivia thing . . . I've been using apple cider vinegar but I will switch to garlic and see how it goes.

Love that attitude and perspective, Andrew! You must be a half-full glass kinda person.

Laura, don't stop using ACV.Garlic purifies the blood but ACV cleans the system out too and is also beneficial.
