Ok so, I was walking to my kit and slightly opened the door to change the water and had one of my new birds just zoom by me through about, 1/2 of a foot of space, and go out the door, he only stayed out for like 20 minutes and came back down to the flight pen and went in. My question is, If I fly shorter kits, like 6-8 for example, will they come down quicker..? Oh yeah that bird was also fully fed too.. :S

I don't think so.

Milo/wheat 25 minutes
Winners Cup 15.5% 1-2 hours

Just by changing the food and the effects started in 3 days.

I fly my birds around 7am I feed them ones they go in every day. You feed them more or less depending on the time you want them to fly. But you feed them one day before not the same day you fly them.

Unless you fly them more than onces you divided the food by the times you fly them.

Ok I'll try just straight wheat/milo.. One more question, does anybody possibly have a picture of the wheat you feed your birds? I have 2 different types..

Drew,
Don't jack with their feed till they are 6 months old.Keep giving them the mix as they need it to build the muscle and once they are 6 months then cut to wheat/milo.

Okey I have been giving them a young bird roller mix and every Monday and Friday I mix half 18% pellets in there because I want them to be strong so they can get away from the hawks..

Andrew, you need to fly the birds first and then only will you be able to dictate the ration of feed, for how ever you want them to fly and only feed them after they have flown. If they are young I recomend you feed a mix grain. Good luck

No I have 8 birds at the moment and they fly anywhere from 30mins to an 1 hour. They have even flown for 2 hours straight when there were lots of BOP around.
