Barley, Wheat, and a bit of flax to get them fat and warm.. I just feed regular because I heat my breeders loft and I am thinking of giving the kit one heat lamp..

Breeder mix with corn will keep them warm, fat, and sassy for the winter months..And a heat lamp above a bathing pan would keep them happy.

What is Breeder mix? My breeders won't eat any of the bigger seeds like corn, peas they pick out small seeds and scatter the rest all over the floor. I am considering going to Lay pellets, but am not sure which kind to use. I tried Game bird crumbles, but they wont eat it. What do you guy's suggest?

I would suggest changing your style of feeder if their getting it all over..Read Kels thread about the cafeteria feeder..that may cut down on the waste...Also, make them eat what they spill before refilling the feeder.

Pigeon breeder mix is just that. A commercially mixed feed that has all of the goodies.

If they are too picky and dont want to eat the bigger seeds like peas and corn, then they aint hungry.! Cut the feed way down for a day or two, then give them straight corn. They will eat it. Dont give them an option till they do... After that you wont have any problem getting them to eat it with a mix. Do the same with peas.

mario....keep giving them the mix you usually feed, but add corn for heat. I feed my birds the same feed all year long, but add corn when it gets cold to give them more heat.
It not a good idea to give your birds laying pellets in the winter. It also depends on what part of the country you live in. In some places winters are not a good time to have squeakers in the nest. A good 16% mix with corn will do the job.
