Keith - I call Frank once a month and have been doing so since he left California. I will call him first thing in the morning and give him your information and ask him if it is ok to give you his number.

Does Mr. Lavin by any chance still breed & train Birmingham Roller Pigeons?

Just wondering.

{P.S.} Good morning Smoke... you still have the same phone number from the last time we talked?

Thank you for posting the picture of Frank Lavin. The times we visited while living in California were great.

LaRon,
Your name came up at the convention, buddy....For the convention auction, the NBRC Band Secretary, Gene Geigholdt, put together a series of two books of pedigrees that he had accumulated over the years....pedigrees of many of the greats in the history of our sport, and pedigrees going back to the original imports. Eldon Cheney, and several of us were connecting some dots and making observations about the history of the Pensoms, Jaconettes, Reed birds, etc. I was trying to find the band numbers of the Pensoms that Turner used to create his family and connect them back to the imports. I noted that 514 was mated to 1377 a lot, and another cock (forget the number), and I was asking if anyone knew anything about the cocks. Somebody said, "Contact LaRon Doucet. I bet he knows!" Who woulda thunk it....me pouring over those pedigrees! It was pretty cool. I found it a lot like doing genealogy!

Cliff - Give me a call and lets discuss. Also, I am glad that many of my colleagues are thankful for the work I have been doing the last 35 years with the historical information as well as trying to promote the Birmingham roller as a performing bird in all of its aspects. Tell Gene I said hello and Eldon that I heard he had a great trip with my friend Herb Sparkes.
